Posten Bring installs the world’s northernmost parcel locker.
Placed in Svalbard, the outdoor SwipBox Infinity locker is the northernmost locker in the world. With this latest locker, Posten Bring's nationwide locker network now covers 2300km from Mandal in the south to Longyearbyen in Svalbard.
“We knew that we had to find a locker that could handle the harsh and unpredictable climate here in Svalbard. Having already rolled out 5,000 Infinity lockers on more than 1,800 locations – including nearly 400 north of the Arctic Circle – we had no doubt that the Infinity locker was the right choice,” said Head of PUDO Services and Parcel Locker Network at Posten Bring, Håvard Femtehjell, adding that Infinity’s lack of wiring and groundwork makes the locker ideal in an area with permafrost.
The Infinity locker is a great additional service offered by the post office, allowing the local population to pick up their parcels 24/7. Apart from the outdoor locker Posten Bring is also planning to install indoor Infinity lockers to handle some of the parcel load in the local post office.
“We’re proud to partner with a visionary company like Posten Bring, who once again prove that they’re true to their vision of making everyday life easier and the world smaller. Our Infinity locker was designed to deliver convenience to everyone everywhere, and the fact that it does so this far north gives us great pride,” SwipBox CEO Jens Rom stated.
Located around 800km north of the Norwegian mainland and just 1300km from the North Pole, Svalbard is a remote archipelago, whose 2600 inhabitants rely heavily on the postal services for goods. The Infinity lockers will be placed by the post office, an important focal point in the community.
